4 Important Things for Effective Brand Messaging
1. Feelings
- What are they feeling in this moment?
- What are they struggling with?
- How is that making them feel?
Feelings are so important. We know people buy based on emotions. It’s really what dictates buying choices. People tend to do that more than absolutely anything else. If we can tap into the feelings that our clients are feeling in a really authentic way to how they’re feeling about things, that’s what’s important. That is going to make our clients feel understood. If they feel understood, they will begin to trust us. This is because we’re understanding what they’re really struggling, and who they are. We know them even better than they know themselves. It’s not until they hear us speaking about that that they can immediately recognize and say “you get it. You understand me”.
I can think of people in my own life who I’ve invested thousands of dollars with, and it was when I first heard them speaking about a problem that I was personally struggling with that I was like “oh my gosh! You get it! You’ve put into words something that I was struggling with that I didn’t even realize!”
That is much more powerful than we realize. We want to make sure that we’re doing that for our clients so that they can have “me too!” moment.
2. Selfless Service
The next thing I want you think of to really speak from a place of selfless service. When we’re talking about what our client is struggling with, we’re focusing on that. There’s a piece of us that really just says “I want to help this person overcome whatever that is”. We want to make sure that we are coming at this from a place of “I’m really passionate about helping people not struggle with this”. We want to help people overcome a problem and solve a situation that they’re facing in their life. Be willing to genuinely help others and feel like your mission is to do that. That’s where the authenticity part of this comes in for people.
3. Clarity and Consistency
The next thing that you really want to do is you want to kind of create clarity and consistency around what you’re asking them to do. That is really important in your messaging.
First thing you’re gonna is how people are feeling. Then you’re gonna focus on how you authentically want to come in and help that person overcome. Next, you need to be super clear about how you’re helping them do that. You need to have a consistent and clear call to action that you are employing for people. Something like “you need to do X Y & Z because you know I’m gonna help you solve your problem, and here is how we are going to get in touch and deepen this relationship”.
Make sure that you are laying out in a really simple fashion the ways they can get in touch with you. It can be:
- “follow the link in my bio”
- “DM me” you’re talking about Instagram
- “emailed me back”
- “Inquire:
Whatever it is you just want people to do, make it really clear.
