Clarity in your Messaging

Today I want to talk about clarity in terms of your overall messaging.

Being clear about who you are and what you stand for is key – especially when it comes to the words that you use. If you are not clear, there’s a couple of things I want to go over today that will happen to you.

No Action

If you are not clear, people won’t act. They won’t do anything if you’re not clear about what someone should do. They’re just not going to take any action because they are not confident about what you’re asking them to do. This is happening because you haven’t told them. Something so you need to be super clear in your messaging about is what you want people to do. If you’re not, they won’t do anything!
The other thing is that if you are not clear, people won’t pay attention. If you have a convoluted, confusing message. people are going to subconsciously think: “uhh…I have no idea what she’s saying. It’s causing my brain to just like short circuit and I’m just not interested because it’s not clear. I can’t make the connection. I’m not following, tracking with this person and understanding what they’re asking me to do. What are they even talking about?”.
You just shut them off. That’s just what happens. so if you are not clear, people are not going to act. They’re not going to pay attention.

Lack of Connection

If you are not clear, people are not going to connect with you. Clarity is key for connecting. If you want someone to do something, or to pay attention, you have to be clear. That way people can really get to know you and dig in and think “I:
  • know what this person is about
  • want to connect with them deeper
  • want to actually follow them more and hear what they have to say.
  • can learn from them
  • would like to invest with them or work with them”

If you are not clear, then there’s no connection that can be made because you are not showing up in a way that your audience can actually understand. It’s like you’re saying word, but they’re just not going in. You have to make sure that you are clear.

Your Distinct Voice

The other thing that happens if you are not clear is that you lose your voice. Having a distinct voice is really important. I’ve talked about this multiple times. You want to #stopascroll, which basically means that when they see a post, they know that it’s from you because your brand voice is so distinct! I have an IGTV about stopping a scroll, if you want to learn more about that because it’s a super important concept that I’m very passionate about.

You want to make sure that you have that distinct voice. Along those lines, if you are not clear you are actually not creating a standout brand; you are not creating a brand in general. Clarity and consistency are key. If you’re clear, and you’re consistent about that, it’s going to give people

  • something to recognize, grab onto and
  • a clue of who you really are and what you are doing
  • insight on how that is going to impact their lives
  • information on how you can support them in solving a problem that they are really struggling with

If you are not clear in your messaging, and you are not clear in your overall brand presence and what you are what you stand for, then you’re really going to lose people.
Again, if you are not clear, people will not act, pay attention, or connect with you. You’re also not going to have a distinct brand voice. People are not going to understand who your brand is, and what you actually stand for, and how you can help them. Ultimately, they’re not going to work with you. Clarity is super, super key when it comes to our brand presence, but especially to our messaging.
